A Winston Moore Worthy Story

Hello Winston, I had an incredible encounter Super Bowl Sunday with a great redfish. I was running late for a Barbecue but thought I would check out one more flat I had seen fish on last week . It was dead low tide, glass surface water and no other boats or anglers in sight. I was running solo and poled the skiff towards the shoreline and staked the boat down and scanned the shoreline North of me. Sure enough there was a school of redfish about 50 yards up the shoreline heading my way. As they approached they started to veer to my right and looked as though they would be out of play. Being solo it is almost impossible to pole the skiff and fish at the same time so I figured these fish were just not to be. About the time I had gave up a pod of dolphin appeared on the edge of the flat to my right. The dolphin were porpoising and blowing air. The dolphin re directed the school of redfish back at me. (Redfish hate dolphin for obvious reasons). On my third cast a beautiful 36 inch bull red engulfed the fly. Epic battle ensued with lots of backing screaming off the real. I was late for the barbecue and was greeted by one pissed off Brazilian wife but it was worth every bit of it. Cheers to the great fish and what they share with us. David
